As the TEAI President Elect, on behalf of the Board of Directors and our membership we would like to sincerely thank the many vendors that participate in our conference, advertise in our journal, and support each of us in our individual classrooms across the state.

For those who might not be familiar with our conference and are thinking about meeting us in Peoria this year for the 2009 Illinois Technology Education Conference, it is a great opportunity to meet over 100 teachers from all areas of the state, representing technology education from the middle school through university levels. The diversity of the audience also includes opportunities to meet the future technology educators from throughout the Midwest. We provide a unique collaborative opportunity for vendors and conference participants with several periods of scheduled vendor time throughout the first day of our conference.

We have two unique opportunities for vendors to impact our profession beyond participating in our conference, sustaining membership and pre-service technology education teaching scholarships. We publish the Illinois Journal of Technology Education two times per year and sustaining membership is an essential part of the publication, it provides revenue to help defray the costs of printing and postage but for you the vendor it provides advertising space as well as a $50 discount on your conference registration booth space. Vendors also have a great opportunity to provide for those students aspiring to lead in our profession and I would like to specifically thank the 2008 Scholarship sponsors: Aidex, Depco, and JBH Technologies. As a past recipient of one of those scholarships I know how incredibly helpful they are and what it means to the pre-service teachers who receive them.
